Are eating, weight, body-image and exercise issues affecting your life?

At the base of all eating disorders and self image issues there is a deep need to be accepted as we are, without having to prove anything externally. Eating is very connected to pleasure, though for people struggling with eating disorders it can be connected to pain and trauma as well.

Eating disorders, weight and body-image issues are ruining so many people’s lives. You are not alone, these issues are very common. Many women suffer with these issues, though men do too. There is often shame and embarrassment. So it is important to speak with someone who truly understands and understands how to resolve these issues compassionately.

If you are struggling and suffering, I want to help you.

I take the fear out of therapy. My clients quickly feel hope and are able to enjoy their lives and relationships again. I use a somatic, mindfulness based psychotherapy approach that is is person-centered. I have many years of experience helping clients resolve these issues. My clients find me very compassionate, sensitive and understanding.

I used to suffer from eating disorders myself. I know how depressing, scary and lonely it is. I was so confused about what to do and so obsessed about my food, weight and body. It can be very depressing and cause feelings of shame. At times I thought I would be ill forever and never have a normal life. I am happy those times are behind me now.

Going beyond psychotherapy

In addition to my therapy practice, I worked over 20 years as a holistic, naturopathic health practitioner. My specialties were digestion, diet and nutritional issues, as well as anxiety, stress, hormonal and thyroid conditions. This knowledge and experience greatly supports my work when counseling clients with eating disorders.

“I have been a client of Timothy Long for several years now and I couldn’t be happier. He is a miracle worker. Ever since I began working with Timothy, my life has taken a 180 degree turn.” ~ Larisa

“You also showed me that joy and beauty can be found in any set of circumstances and that difficulties (e.g. relationship problems and illnesses) can be utilized as a driving force for success and personal growth.” ~ Ivy
